February 2010

Dear Program Director:

In 2010, the National EpiFellows Foundation (NEF) is celebrating its 18th anniversary. The NEF continues to foster the development of epilepsy fellows and third-year residents
with an orientation toward epilepsy. To help encourage independent investigations by the trainees, the NEF will award research grants of up to $20,000 each. Qualified applicants have the opportunity to apply for funding during this grant cycle.

Enclosed, please find a grant application packet for you to provide to a qualified applicant. Candidates include current epilepsy fellows who have completed their neurology residency, as well as final-year neurology residents accepted into epilepsy fellowships. If the candidate is not a fellow in (or accepted to) an established EEG/Epilepsy fellowship, eligibility should be determined prior to grant submission. Please see the grant application guidelines for further details.

For additional applications, please call us at (800) 288-2074, or (732) 345-3517, or access the NEF Web site at www.epifellows.com. Please advise applicants that proposals may be accessed via the Web site. A flyer announcing this program is also enclosed; if appropriate, please post it at your institution to spread the word about the NEF Research Grants. The grant application is to be returned by Friday, April 30, 2010. Grant awards will be determined in June, and winners will be notified shortly thereafter.

The development of the NEF and its programs is supported by Pfizer Inc.

We are delighted to extend this opportunity once again, and we ask that you encourage fellows in your program to consider applying for this worthwhile research grant.

Sincerely,

Ilo E. Leppik, MD
Chairman, NEF Grant Review Committee
